Funding & disclosure

Stop Motion Database exists to grow the stop-motion industry and return work, recognition and money to the people who make the films. Its funding rules follow from that:

• Money comes from outside the industry, never from inside it. We do not charge artists, studios, producers or craft-tool makers — for listings, corrections, job posts, or anything else. Every entry is free, forever.
• Current revenue: none. The site runs on volunteer work and near-zero hosting costs. When funding is accepted (public donations, cultural grants, or clearly-labelled sponsorship from outside the industry), it will be listed here, by name.
• Money never buys editorial. No funder influences which works, studios or people are listed or how they are described.
• Surpluses go to contributors. The long-term goal is to pay the people who verify credits, translate pages and write chapters — with a public ledger. The maintainer takes nothing.

Every link on this site points to a specific, verified page — an official site, the exact film/festival/database entry, or the actual video. We never publish a search or "results" link (an Amazon/Google search, a keyword page): a search link is not a source, so we don't use it and don't count it toward a page's verification. If you find one, it is a bug — please report it.

Stop Motion Database does not currently use affiliate links. If a "buy" link to a maker's own store is ever added it will be a direct, verified product page, clearly marked, will never change the price you pay, and will never influence which works, studios or people are listed or how they are described.
